The 5.0 Mustang GT was spotted at the National Association of Police Fleet Managers (NAPFM) trade show, where its appearance caused quite a stir. Whilst nobody knows for sure whether the Mustang is set to be used officially, it was revealed that the fully liveried car was a pre-production model, and thus would not be allowed to be used on the road. However a Ford spokesperson stated that the Mustang is already undergoing assessment to judge its capabilities, and several forces are considering them.
The Mustang can produce 412 bhp from its 5.0 V8 engine, and can get to 60 mph in under 5 seconds, making it ideal for high speed performance. With most forces already running Ford’s, it is expected that there wouldn’t be much trouble in running the V8 sports car.
