The all-new Ford Focus ST is set to be released late next year and pump out a staggering 275BHP, 6 months after the launch of the new standard Focus. Autocar magazine understands that Ford will aim for a Fiesta style ‘Go Further’ event to unleash it’s all new hot hatch and not the Frankfurt Motor Show as initially thought.
Ford have produced a range of 1.5 litre four-cylinder petrol engines designed to meet new emission regulations and the blue oval are understood to be looking at twin-scroll turbocharging , direct injection and cylinder deactivation technology to produce extra power and fuel economy to make the Focus a sporty yet practical family choice. The same engine will be available in the Fiesta ST producing 131BHP per litre, showing that gaining the extra 20-30BHP per litre is a realistic target. Diesel will also be available in the new ST.
