The Ford Mustang has been a huge success since it crossed the pond and hit UK showrooms. In 2018, we are expecting a facelifted model which include a few performance enhancing features. The main new addition is a new 10 speed automatic gearbox, available with both the 5.0 litre V8 and 2.3 litre EcoBoost engines and will decrease shift times and offer different setting in the Mustang’s 3 drive modes. It will be controllable with paddle shifts. Along with the new gearbox, the V8 unit will be tweaked slightly to rev higher and increase performance and even improve fuel economy. Staying under the bonnet, Ford have upgraded the shock absorbers to improve ride quality, played with the stabiliser bars and fitted a new cross-axis jount; all of which are set to improve handling.
The looks of the new car remain similar but the changes are clearly noticeable. Ford claim the bodywork changes are to offer aerodynamic benefits. Inside the cabin, the dials of the current model will be swapped for a digital system, just as will be found in the GT supercar. A few tech upgrades will also be included, such as a pre-collison system, all-LED headlight clusters, pedestrian detection program and the addition of an upgraded memory system which will save the driver’s preferred steering and suspension settings.
