Ford have announced release of 13 new global electrified vehicles coming in the next five years.
One of the vehicles will be a fully electric SUV with a range of at least 300 miles. Other highlights include by 2019 a Ford Transit Custom plug-in hybrid for the European markets and a Mustang Hybrid for the North American market by 2020.
Ford plan to invest some $4.5 billion in the development of electrified vehicles by 2020, offering a range of vehicles with increased fuel efficiency. It’s hoped that will generate 700 new jobs at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant. Ford are also investing considerable resources into piloting wireless recharging technology; its hoped that recharging your electric vehicle will be as simple as pulling into a parking space.
