We are yet to see an official release of the all electric Ford Focus, but the few demonstration models running around the UK have had their 39 mile battery distance increased to 119. The original 23kWh battery has been replaced by a bigger 33.5kWh unit, and with the addition of fast charging as standard, the Focus is now becoming a much more viable vehicle for the new EV market. None of the performance or styling will have change but unfortunately, it looks like we will have to wait until at least 2018 before we see the first models available for public sale.
Ford have also backed up plans of a 2021 release of their first fully autonomous vehicle, so it will be interesting to see if we will see any of this electric technology featured in the autonomous vehicle.
