The all new Ka+ is set to replace the current model Ka as a 5 door version. Priced below the Ford Fiesta and slightly smaller in size the Ka+ will be priced from £8995. It’s hoped that the first cars may be delivered as early as October. The model which is built in India along side its bigger EcoSport brother is a heavily revised Ford Figo; the model being heavily modified to match the expectations of the European consumer.
The Ka+ will only be available in 5 door form in either Style or Zetec trim. One engine will be offered a 1.2 litre 4 cylinder which will be available in either 69bhp ot 84bhp.
The Ka+ will come with as standard 6 air bags, aircon, Ford SYNC, a smart phone dock, hill start and even a speed limiter. If you choose the 84bhp engine you get a few more optional extras including cruise control, climate control, alloys, powerfold wing mirrors, heated front seats and DAB.
The suspension has been tuned from that of the original Figo, the car rides a little lower than the Indian and South American versions giving a ride and handling feedback that the European consumer would desire.
In the past Ford has ignored associations with budget offerings from other manufacturers but realising this is an ever growing market segment, have pitched the Ka+ directly head to head with the Kia Rio and the Dacia Sandero, all 3 cars offer a very similar specification for very similar money.
