With 3 months to go until the start of the 3rd Formula E season, the all-electric cars take their first big appearance change. The new front wings on the cars will feature a double story design with a connecting walls at either side. The new feature has been designed to further distance the championship and cars from there petrol powered Formula 1 rivals. CEO of the electric championship, Alejandro Agag described the new features as “a great addition to our car which further emphasizes the fact that this is a modern, forward-thinking championship that is taking a completely different approach to all other racing series.”
Formula E has a big challenge on their hands to catch up to the popularity of Formula 1. In 2014, F1 introduced new rules, that reduced the size of the engines from V8 to turbo charged V6. The cars remained as impressive as ever, but the smaller engines halved the sound that would bellow from the cars, arguably taking away some of the ore the F1 machines would have. In terms of looking to the future, it has been obvious for many years now that electric power and alternative fuel will be taking over from petrol and diesel. Many cities are now ready to ban introduce conventional fuel powered cars from their centres. The only question is how long it will take?
