Ford will officially reveal the new Ford EcoSport, the smallest of the blue oval’s SUV line up at next week’s Frankfort Motor Show. The new car features a completely refreshed dash, completely revised exterior styling, a new engine and the option of a 4-wheel drive system.
The major exterior changes are most noticeable from the front with the car displaying a new face which helps it slip into line with the rest of the Ford SUV model, a large grille, new fog lamps and new ‘Mustang’ inspired headlights. At the back of the car, the lights have been slightly redesigned along with the rear bumper. A future ST-Line model will arrive with sporty side skirts, bumpers and 17inch alloy wheels. Inside, the interior looks to be all most identical to the all-new Fiesta, with a large touch screen display, centre console, gearstick and steering wheel all being taken directly from the EcoSport’s smaller sibling. An adjustable boot floor has been fitting to boost practicality.
Under the bonnet, Ford have added a new 123bhp 1.5 diesel engine to the line up but won’t be available until mid 2018. The current line up of 99bhp, 123bhp and 138bhp 1.0 litre petrol engines will be available along with the current 99bhp 1.5 diesel unit from day 1. Starting prices are set to rise slightly from the £15,645 base price of the current model but with all the extra technology, it will be worth it.
