Manager of SUV communications at Ford, Jeremy Schofield has confirmed the new EcoSport will take a similar muscular looks found on the new Kuga and Edge models. During the summer, a test mule was snapped testing which confirms the approach Schofield has been speaking about. The car is believed to be a South American and Chinese market version, with the rear wheel on the boot door; a feature which is likely to be removed for the UK market.
Inside the new EcoSport, Ford are set to introduce Sync3, the latest version of their infotainment system which gives advanced controls to in phone apps and in car features. Under the bonnet, the same 1.0 litre and 1.5 litre ecoboost engines look like they’ll remain alongside the 1.5 diesel unit. The possibility of a 4×4 all-wheel drive option has been suggested by Schofield. He explained that 15% of B-Spec SUVs are 4 wheel drive and the current market trend could lead to the new EcoSport following this.
We are expecting to see the new Kuga undisguised by the end of the year, with models hitting our showrooms next year. Prices are set to start from £14,645.
