Not long to wait until the all-new 2.3 litre all wheel drive Ford Focus RS hits the showrooms, but all ready Ford Performance are toying with the idea of a even harder RS. If the feedback is as positive as expected, the idea could certainly become reality as confirmed by Ford insiders.
If the RS goes ahead, a 0-60mph time of under 4 seconds looks set to be a achievable target, therefore becoming the fastest accelerating hatchback and beating the likes of the Audi RS3 and Mercedes AMG A45. The improved acceleration would be a result of mainly weight loss, consisting of polycarbonate glazing, carbonfibre-reinforced plastic bodywork, forged aluminium suspension componentry, carbonfibre brakes, less noise insulation and-out interior. In total, even with a few performance upgrades, a total of 100kg could be knocked off the original RS.
Only time will tell if the limited edition Focus RS becomes reality, but with the first RS to look forward to, excited times ahead for all Ford fans.
