Ford are to mark the 50th Anniversary of their famous 1-2-3 Le Mans Win in 1966 by returning to Le Mans in 2016. The 1966 Le Mans race marked one of the most enthralling motorsport finishes of all time with the Ford GT40s finishing in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Ford are keen to attempt to reassert themselves as a dominant force in GT racing.
The All new Ford GT supercar will compete in the LM GTE Pro class at Le Mans. The new Ford GT race car will also compete in the 2016 Tudor United SportsCar Championship as well as the FIA World Endurance Championship. The GT race car based on the all new road going version of the Ford GT and will also use a highly developed version of the 3.5litre Ecoboost V6 Engine. Ford will be working partnership with other major motorsport names; Multimac Motorsports, Roush Yates, Castrol, Michelin, Forza Motorsport, Sparco, Brembo and CGRFS to name but a few.
The Ford GT race car will debut in January 2016 at the Rolex 24 Daytona Florida, we can’t wait.
