The All-New Ford Galaxy has arrived, the MPV with state of the art technology and running costs as impressive as it’s styling. Just like the S-Max, the Galaxy’s younger brother, the new car rides like a smaller, sportier vehicle, but maximizes interior room, allowing 7 people to travel in complete comfort.
The Galaxy’s huge boot remians, with 300 litres of storage accessible with the rear 2 seats up, and an extra 1000 litres with them down and another 1000 with the second row down.
The New Galaxy includes lots of futuristic technology, such as Ford’s dynamic LED technology which alter the lighting pattern of the headlights depending on your speed, environment and road conditions. They also follow the turn of the wheel to allow better viability on twisty sections of roads. The car is available with the EasyFold system; with one push of a button, the second row seats can be folded completely flat, making loading larger items quicker and easier for the driver. A 8″ touchscreen sits in the centre of the uncluttered dash, featuring Ford’s Sync 2 voice control system. Sync 2 allows the user advanced voice control commands to a bluetooth connected phone, giving access to on phone apps such as Garmin and Spotify.
The new Galaxy also features a 2 way split front camera, so when the driver arrives at a junction, they have complete vision of every angle on top of an active parking system, which can deliver the car to a parallel parking spot. In addition, lane keep assist can be added to stop the car from drifting out of a motorway lane, as well as traffic sign recognition, which reads speed signs and limits the car to the speed limit. A panoramic roof can be fitted to give the interior and bright and airy feel.
As traditional with Ford, the car will be available in 3 specs, Zetec, Titanium and Titanium X. The Zetec has 17-inch wheels, an eight-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and dual climate air con as standard. LED running lights, keyless entry and sat nav are added to the Titanium with a panoramic roof, leather seats and electric boot release added to the Titanium X. A mix of engines can be chosen, ranging from a 1.5 petrol to the 148bhp TDCI diesel engine which is expected to be the best seller. An Automatic Powershift gearbox is available alongside a 6 speed manual.
To conclude, the technology, low running costs and practicality will allow the all-new Galaxy to fit perfectly into the Ford family and sit as a market leader inside between it’s rivals.
