The original S-Max was a 7 seater family MPV which gave a perfect mix of driver pleasure and family practicality. 9 years after the first models were produced, the first in a line of lucky customers have taken delivery of their brand new 2015 vehicles.
From the outside, the striking new chrome grill make the S-Max stand out from it’s competitors, whilst allowing the car to fit perfectly into the Ford family, alongside the Mondeo and face-lifted Focus and Fiesta. The new S-Max is also slightly longer and wider than the previous model, giving the customer a boot space of 965 litres, this being bigger than the equivalent Citroen C4 Picasso.
Inside the cabin of the new car, the dashboard has been given a new smooth look, with buttons being removed and integrated into the new Ford SYNC 2 infotainment system, which comes as standard in all models. Powered by Microsoft, SYNC 2 gives the driver an option to control on phone apps, such as TomTom and Spotify over voice control. SYNC 2 still contains air conditioning, radio settings and Sat Nav on specs higher than Zetec. On top of the SYNC 2 system, all S-Max have all round parking sensors, keyless start and a DAB Radio. 17″ alloys are standard but can be upgraded.
In addition to the standard kit, the Titanium model includes Sat Nav and USB connectivity, whilst the Titanium Sport also provides bigger alloy wheels, sports suspension and racing bodykit. The Titanium Sport X is available for an addition fee and supplies the car with LED headlights and electrically operated leather seats.
Available with a choice of 4 diesel and 2 petrol engines with both 2 and 4 wheel drive, the S-Max is available with automatic and manual gearboxes. An All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system is also available. This system gives each axle the right amount of grip and power to deal with icy and wet conditons. Ford expects their 148bhp 2.0 TDCi engine to be the most popular, giving 56.5mpg with the road tax price at £110. With it’s slick new looks, smart interior, intelligent technology and small car on road feel, the all new S-Max is a very impressive all round car.
