Ford GT makes European debut as orders hit 7000

Arguably one of the most eagerly anticipated of the year, if not the decade. The Ford GT has finally make its debut in Europe at the past weekend’s FIA World Endurance Championship round at Silverstone, the home of UK motor racing. On top of the racing, Ford released their GT online configurator, which Ford believe to have aided the high order numbers.

The previous GT, released over 10 years ago had production numbers limited to 4,000 and Ford have already confirmed that fewer of the new model will be made, suggesting only 250 a year, of which only 20 will be coming the UK. This leads to a very long waiting list to most customers who have placed an order of the £395,000, 592bhp V6 supercar.

On the track, the GT’s dominated their Aston Martin rivals in qualifying but unfortunately fell back through sunday’s race. Even with the result, plenty of positives can be taken and the raw pace of the GT is promising for the rest of the season.

Fancy your very own racer, Dees of Wimbledon currently have some unbeatable new and used Focus and Fiesta ST offers. Take a look for yourself here
