Could more ‘Active’ models follow the new Ford Fiesta

The new Ford Fiesta was revealed late yesterday a special Ford event in Cologne, Germany in 4 different variants. These being a sporty ST-Line, a Titanium, a high spec Vignale and an all-new pumped up ‘Active’ Crossover. The crossover vehicle sits slightly higher than the standard models and features extra body cladding, allowing the car to sit perfectly in the popular SUV sector, rivaling Nissan’s successful Juke model. Jim Farley, head of Ford Europe admitted at the event that “the firm is looking at extending the Active treatment to other models.”

It may seem odd that Ford would release a vehicle that on paper looks to directly target it’s very own EcoSport model but Farley went further to explain, ““I don’t envisage there being any real crossover between Fiesta Active customers and Ecosport buyers. We have the Ecosport as a B-SUV – but I really think the Active could be enough of an SUV for a lot of people, particularly those who just want a higher seating position more than really high ground clearance.”
