On Friday, the lid was finally taken off the all-new Ford Fiesta ST. We will have to until the Geneva Motor Show in March for Ford to officially unveil the model and release all the details of the award winning hot hatch. What we know so far is that the car will be available in both 3 and 5 door versions, Ford’s latest Sync3 infotainment touch screen system with sound coming through an high quality B&O sound system. From the outside, the hot hatch will include a new ‘race car inspired’ mesh grille, advanced bodykit from the new ST-Line model and a new Liquid Blue paint colour.
The new ST is likely to feature Ford’s new 1.5 litre 3 cylinder engine with 197bhp and a reduced 0-62mph of only 6.7 seconds; a 0.2 sec drop from the current model. The new car will also include 3 driving modes;
Normal mode – All settings are set to default, with traction control, electric stability control and all over systems set to give a natural driving feel.
Sport Mode – Engine mapping and throttle pedal response are sharpened. The cabin noise is increased with the opening of the active exhaust noise control valve and electric sound enhancement technology.
Track Mode – Traction control is disabled, electric stability control is set to wide-slip mode and all dynamics are set to produce the fastest possible lap time.
The new ST will be available from early next year and we can’t wait to see if it can fill the boots of it’s much admired predecessor. It’s not to late to get your hands on the current award winning ST, take a look at our excellent new and used offers here; Dees of Wimbledon, New and Used
