Vauxhall’s award winning run continues, this time coming out on top in four categories at the Fleet World Honours. The ceremony held at the Royal Automobile Club in London was held to recognise the Fleet Industries top choices throughout a range of vehicle segments.
First to pick up an award was the all-new Astra. Vauxhall’s much acclaimed hatchback won both the Best New Car award and Best Lower Medium Car award, two of the night’s most competitive categories. A judging panel made up of fleet industry journalists and influential industry members recognised the Astra for its efficiency, running costs and technology, all key areas for fleet customers.
“The Astra is a fleet staple in the UK, and the corporate sector has never had it better,” Alex Grant, Fleet World Deputy Editor, commented. “It’s more stylish, more fun to drive, more practical, and more economical than ever. The Astra brings technologies such as IntelliLux LED headlights and OnStar connected services to the compact class, yet it still manages to be ultra-competitive on whole-life costs.”
Next on the honours list was the Vauxhall Corsa, which was crowned Best Supermini. The Corsa also enjoyed praise for its high efficiency and range of trim levels.
“Although the Corsa has long been one of the UK’s best-selling cars, Vauxhall’s very effective overhaul in 2014 means there’s never been more reason to opt for one,” said Alex. “The wide range encompasses trim levels to suit all types of corporate user, with engines ranging from 85g/km diesels and low-carbon petrols to the potent VXR. Strong on design and technology, it’s the segment benchmark.”
Rounding off the awards for the night was the Vauxhall Combo. The popular van came away with the award for the Best Small Van, despite fierce competition. Like the Corsa, the Combo was praised for its range of trim levels, with the Combo available in a variety of sizes to deal with a range of load volumes and payloads.
“Vauxhall recognises that there is no one-size fits all van, and Combo provides fleet managers with a huge range of engine, load volume and payload options,” said Dan Gilkes, Van Fleet World Editor. “With the backing of Vauxhall’s extensive dealer network, Combo delivers a practical, well-equipped, cost-efficient load carrier.”
“We’re delighted the Astra has been recognised for not one but two awards at the Fleet World Honours,” said James Taylor, Vauxhall’s Fleet Sales Director. “The fleet market is an important sector for the all new Astra. It’s great to see how well-received the Astra has been so far, and we are also pleased that the Corsa and Combo have remained firm favourites.”
