Sales of new cars in the UK for September are at their highest level on record, with increases in private, fleet and business sales, with Vauxhall taking 3 out of the top ten highest sales positions.
Over 2 million cars have been registered this year so far, with March seeing the highest number of new cars sold this century. September saw 462,517 cars registered up 8.6% on the previous year*. (Source -Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.) The last time this happened in September was 2004. This is the 43rd month of increases in a row.
When asked about the VW emissions scandal and what effect it had on September a spokesman for SMMT said “It was too early to say. Last year consumers bought more diesel cars than petrol. But in September, 45.9% of car sales were diesel and 51.4% were petrol”. (Image Via MailOnline)
