Volvo has teamed up with startup Urb-it to offer deliveries that are made to the boot of your car within 2 hours of you placing an order. Whilst this will be initially be limited to Stockholm there is plans to expand the service to 200 cities by 2025.
The system makes use of Volvo’s keyless entry system that can utilise a mobile device to authorise entry to a car. A one time digital key is issued to the delivery driver and you are then notified when the drop-off has taken place. With security in mind all the drivers are vetted and you can even specify which driver will be making the delivery and you are sent their details including a picture.
We’re sure this will be a popular service, especially in dense urban areas, where people lead busy lives. Volvo is definitely on a roll with its technological enhancements and we can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
