Rumours are afoot that Fiat are in the stages of preparing an Abarth version of their Fiat 500X, the range-topping 500X will earn the honour of being Abarth’s first-ever crossover.

Details are sketchy, but this new edition could be powered by an evolution of the turbocharged 1.7-liter four-cylinder engine that is found under the bonnet of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde and the 4C.

Specification is thought to include 19-inch alloy wheels with low-profile tyres, a more muscular-looking front bumper with a deep air vent, side skirts on both ends, a trunk-mounted spoiler, and twin exhaust pipes at the rear.
