Fiat‘s new Fullback pick-up truck has made its UK debut at the 2016 Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, and will go on sale in the UK in June 2016.
The Fullback will rival a growing number of revised pick-up trucks, including the new Nissan Navara, Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger. As many car brands are looking to the pick-up market to expand, the Fullback will also have to see off the revised Volkswagen Amarok and potential offerings from Renault and Peugeot/Citroen
The Fullback is essentially a rebadged Mitsubishi L200, which is immediately clear from the pickup’s pointed headlights, curved windows and the crease running along the load bed. It can be fitted with either a 150bhp or 180bhp 2.4-litre diesel engine and comes with four-wheel drive as standard. Like the L200, the Fullback cab can be equipped with either a six-speed manual or a five-speed automatic gearbox. If you opt for the auto, you’ll also be treated to a sports mode.
Fiat’s new pick-up will launch in June in the UK. Prices are unconfirmed, but we expect them to start from around £23,000 – a similar price to the L200. Two trim levels will be available.
