The Abarth 595 Competizione ‘By TAG Heuer’ Limited Edition Comes With a Free Watch!

At the 2016 Brussels Motor Show, Swiss watch maker TAG Heuer and Italian car maker Fiat have introduced a new limited edition Abarth car which not only comes with a TAG Heuer timepiece, but one that is also uncommonly dual branded (as is the watch). For years, wrist watch and automobile enthusiasts have looked on as brands from both industries have sought to find unique collaborations meant to appeal to watch-loving car enthusiasts. Unfortunately though, it is only intended for the Belgian and Luxembourg Abarth automobile markets =why??

Abarth is an historic automobile maker that lives on in now-parent company Fiat. Currently, if you want an Abarth car, you’ll be looking at a souped up and re-branded Fiat 500. The 2016 Abarth 595 Competizione by TAG Heuer model will be limited to just 30 cars (exclusively for sale in Germany) and, in addition to some seemingly thrilling performance promises, comes with a matching limited edition TAG Heuer Carrera watch. Note that the “by TAG Heuer” version of the Abarth 595 Competizione car has a unique styling and of course comes with the watch, but otherwise appears to have the same mechanical underpinnings as the also new “standard” Abarth 595 Competizione cars.

The timepiece is a base TAG Heuer Carrera automatic chronograph with its retro-chic racing watch design popularized by the Carrera’s initial debut in the 1960s. The clean dial is imbued with an Abarth logo in the subsidiary seconds dial, and TAG Heuer matches the steel case with a deep burgundy strap with red stitching. Inside the 41mm-wide watch is a Swiss ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic mechanical chronograph movement. It is a fitting wrist accessory for driving around in the 180-horsepower 1.4-liter turbo engine inside of the Abarth 595 Competizione which promises a 0-100 kilometers-per-hour time of 6.7 seconds. Not too shabby for the micro-hatchback.
